Description

Team Genesis, part of the freshly MIC-Incubated Genesis Game Studios, took their chances to participate in Imagine Cup, after last year's success in Russia. We played a board game called "Betrayal at the House on the hill" and instantly, that became the next idea for our Imagine Cup project. 9 Months later, we came first in Greece, in "Games" Category and represented the country in the worldwide Semifinals, where we competed against 50 other games. We believed in our project, so we proceeded through the World Semifinals and moved to the world finals, where we earned a spot at the top 10 countries around the world. We also won the VSO award and received 2 honourable mentions for our project in secondary online challenges.

 

Dementia is an online turn based, tactical roguelike RPG with a horror theme.

 

You play as one of the six bold explorers who enter the cursed manor, each one for his own secret reasons. Your goal is to explore the house, which is an ever-changing challenge, filled with randomized rooms. Each room has a specific random effect that happens on you (Event Card)... or the other explorers. It may be an Item... or it may be a positive effect! At some random point during gameplay, the curse of the house is revealed to everyone and a random explorer is becoming the cursed one, betraying the other 5. From that point on, depending on the curse of the house (which is random) it's a fight of survival of the explorers versus the traitor, who could be an evil Rat Shaman, a Vampire, a hungry Werewolf, or a Serial Killer! The goal of the game is different for the traitor and different for the explorers and is transparent between the two teams. Who will win?

 

The innovation of our game was that there was 1 in half a billion chance of ever playing the same game ever, on multiple playthroughs.
